Persimmon Hill Campground at Enid Lake quietly gets a lot of things right. The sites are level concrete pads with full hookups, the setting is peaceful, and the lake is just a short walk away. If you enjoy fishing, relaxing, and quiet evenings at your RV, this is an excellent place to stay — especially for the price.
We stayed here for four nights in December 2025 and liked it enough that we’ve already reserved the same site again for June.

Full Report
Our Stay (Real-World Context)
We stayed in Site #21 with a 39-foot travel trailer plus a rear bike rack, three slides, and a Ford F-350 dually.
The site offers a partial lake view from the living room window and easy walking access to the shoreline in multiple directions.
The Campsite
Pad & Utilities
The site has a concrete pad that was perfectly level both front-to-back and side-to-side. No leveling blocks were needed.
Full hookups are located directly at the site:
• 30 & 50 amp electric
• Water
• Sewer
This is exactly what you hope for in a COE campground — and don’t always get.
Space & Layout
There was plenty of room for:
• a long travel trailer
• a full-size dually truck
• outdoor chairs and a small setup
Backing in with a larger rig was slightly tight, but there were no low branches or difficult turns inside the campground.
Overall layout feels spacious rather than crowded.
Noise, Shade & Overall Feel
This campground is very quiet.
During our stay we noticed:
• no road noise
• no generator noise
• only faint boat sounds on the lake
• quiet hours respected
We were not near the playground, which likely helped.
Although we stayed during winter, the campground has excellent mature tree coverage, which should provide meaningful shade during summer months.
Lake Access & Views
One of the best features of Persimmon Hill is how easily you can access the lake.
From our site:
• shoreline was under a two-minute walk
• multiple lake access points nearby
• boat ramp close to the campground
• docks and shoreline fishing available
Enid Lake is well regarded for fishing, which was noticeable from the number of anglers staying in the campground.
During our December visit, the lake level was low, exposing some muddy shoreline areas. This did not affect the campground itself, which remained clean and dry even after rain.
The lake is typically full in spring and summer, which should improve shoreline appearance and access.
Bathhouse & Maintenance
The bathhouse near our site was excellent.
Cleanliness: 5 / 5
Distance: about 100 feet from the site
Heating: heated during winter
Grounds maintenance was also solid:
• grass well maintained
• asphalt roads in good condition
• sites clearly marked
One small oddity: there is only one trash bin, located near the campground entrance/exit. It’s well managed but requires a longer walk or short drive from most sites.
Connectivity & Practical Use
Cell service worked well during our stay.
Carrier: Verizon
Signal: 3–4 bars
Hotspot use: Excellent
Streaming: No problems
We did not test campground Wi-Fi, but cellular service alone was more than adequate.
Access & Location
Approaching the campground involves a few narrow and winding roads with moderate elevation changes, but nothing difficult.
Google Maps routed us correctly with no issues.
Night arrivals should be manageable, though we generally prefer arriving during daylight.
Nearby Services
Convenience store: ~5 miles
Enid Lake Fish Hatchery: ~3 miles
Full-service town: ~15 miles
The location feels peaceful and somewhat remote, but resupply trips are still easy.
Weather & Seasonal Notes
Our December stay was cold but comfortable.
• trees helped block wind
• propane heat plus our electric fireplace kept things warm
• propane heat alone would have been sufficient
Rain before arrival and one rainy afternoon caused no drainage problems. Asphalt roads kept the campground free of mud.
We expect the June return trip to confirm how well the tree cover moderates summer heat.
Cost & Value
Standard rate is about $32 per night.
With the America the Beautiful Lifetime Pass, the rate drops to $16 per night.
For a full-hookup concrete site in a quiet lakeside setting, this represents excellent value.
Who This Campground Is For
Persimmon Hill is a good choice if you:
• want a quiet, scenic campground
• appreciate full hookups and concrete pads
• enjoy fishing or being near the water
• prefer peaceful evenings over activity
• are comfortable being a short drive from town
Who Should Probably Skip It
This may not be ideal if you:
• want to unload ATVs or side-by-sides
• are looking for off-road riding areas
• want to stay near a larger city
• prefer resort-style amenities or entertainment
Reality Check
Persimmon Hill Campground is a great place to stay if you want quiet, scenery, and easy access to the lake — but it’s not a resort campground.
Amenities are simple and practical. There’s a bathhouse and full hookups, but you won’t find pools, organized activities, or entertainment.
The campground is also somewhat remote. Grocery stores, restaurants, and other services require a short drive, so it’s best to arrive with what you need.
And while the sites work well for larger rigs, backing into some spots may feel a little tight for longer trailers.
If you’re looking for a peaceful place to camp near the water, those trade-offs are usually worth it.
Final Thoughts
Persimmon Hill Campground delivers exactly what it promises: quiet, comfort, and easy lake access at a fair price.
It’s not flashy, but it’s well designed, well maintained, and a place you can genuinely relax.
We liked it enough to book the same site again.
That alone says a lot.
