Full Report
Location and Property Layout
The Maui Banyan sits in a convenient part of Kihei on Maui’s south shore, with beaches, shops, and restaurants nearby.
Our unit was in the same building as the check-in office, directly across from the parking structure. That made coming and going extremely easy.
Parking overall was very simple, which isn’t always the case at some condo complexes on Maui.
The property itself is extremely well maintained, with clean grounds, landscaping, and walkways.
The Condo
Our condo included:
• one bedroom
• living room
• full kitchen
• two bathrooms
• washer and dryer
• a small lanai (balcony)
The kitchen was fully usable, and we used it every day. It had everything we needed for preparing meals.

The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the unit felt updated and well maintained.
One thing we noticed is that lanai sizes vary depending on the building orientation. Our balcony was fairly small, while units facing the parking structure appeared to have larger lanais but with less appealing views.
Deer From the Lanai
One morning we looked out from the lanai and saw seven deer walking through the property.

The photo we took shows three of them, but there were more just outside the frame.
It was the only time we saw them during the stay, but it was a memorable and unexpected moment.
Beach Access
One of the best things about staying here is how easy it is to reach the beach.
The beach is about 100 yards away, directly across the road.
A marked crosswalk allows pedestrians to cross safely, and drivers were good about stopping.
The beach itself was moderately busy but not crowded, and we visited several times.
It works well for:
• swimming
• walking
• relaxing
• snorkeling
Pool vs Beach
The property does have pool areas, and we visited once.
However, with the beach so close, we found ourselves choosing the ocean most of the time.
Being able to walk to the beach in just a couple of minutes was one of the biggest advantages of staying here.
Kihei Atmosphere
Kihei felt busy but manageable, not overly crowded compared with other parts of Maui.
The location also made it easy to drive to other areas of the island when we wanted to explore.
Foodland Poke
We cooked many of our meals in the condo, but Mary had poke from Foodland almost every day.
Foodland is widely known among locals as having the best poke on Maui, and it was just as good as we remembered from more than twenty years ago.
Many restaurants and stores sell poke, but Foodland remains the place locals go for it.
Kalama Village
We also spent some time at Kalama Village, a shopping area in Kihei.
It’s definitely touristy, but it was fun to walk through and wasn’t overly crowded when we visited.
It’s a good place to browse for souvenirs and local items.
Reality Check
Maui Banyan works very well for many travelers, but there are a few things to understand before booking.
Not all buildings have elevators, and some units may require carrying luggage up stairs. Certain buildings are also farther from parking and beach access than others.
Because the property is a condo complex rather than a resort, amenities are more practical than luxurious.
For many travelers that’s a fair trade-off, but those expecting a full resort experience may want to consider other options.
Who This Property Is Best For
Maui Banyan works especially well for travelers who:
• want a kitchen for cooking
• want an in-unit washer and dryer
• appreciate easy parking
• want quick beach access
• prefer a quieter place to stay
Final Thoughts
Maui Banyan turned out to be a comfortable and practical place to stay.
The property is clean, quiet, and well located, with easy beach access and convenient parking.
We would consider staying there again, though curiosity might lead us to try a different property next time — not because anything was wrong with the Banyan, but simply to experience something new.
